The department includes essential academic infrastructure comprising two faculty rooms, three classrooms, one tutorial room, and two computer laboratories. These spaces are designed to facilitate regular teaching, personalized tutorials, and hands-on computing sessions in alignment with the academic curriculum. The computer labs are well-equipped, each housing 30 desktop PCs to support practical sessions and enhance students’ technical skills.
A variety of teaching aids and resources are available to enrich the learning experience. These include setups for PowerPoint presentations using PCs, projectors, screens, and sound systems. For theory and practical courses, print materials and lab instruments are provided, along with machines, spare parts, and consumables. Display tools such as green boards, whiteboards, and notice boards are also in place. Digital learning is supported through laptops, projectors, CDs/DVDs, pen drives, and video lecture systems, ensuring a comprehensive blend of traditional and modern teaching methods.
RCC Institute of Information Technology (RCCIIT) was set up in 1999 by the erstwhile Regional Computer Centre (RCC), Calcutta (in JU) as a unique joint venture of NIC, Ministry of Communication & IT, Govt. of India and Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal. In 2003 the lead role of management of RCCIIT was transferred to the State Govt. from Govt. of India.
