The Computer Application (CA) Department of RCCIIT has started its journey from the year 2000.
A large number of Alumni of this department are working in responsible positions of different IT companies. Being a postgraduate with an academic mindset, some of the students have a tendency to join academics and pursue higher studies like ME, M. Tech, MBA and PhD in IITs, ISIs, IISCs, IIMs and Universities in India and abroad.
Institute will nurture, encourage and produce self-reliant, knowledgeable motivated professionals, capable of meaningful contribution towards the theory and practice of Information and allied Technology, so that it can sustain its place as acclaimed center of excellence, learning and research.

RCC Institute of Information Technology (RCCIIT) was set up in 1999 by the erstwhile Regional Computer Centre (RCC), Calcutta (in JU) as a unique joint venture of NIC, Ministry of Communication & IT, Govt. of India and Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal. In 2003 the lead role of management of RCCIIT was transferred to the State Govt. from Govt. of India.
